HAPPY NEW YEAR !Dear member, we are pleased to welcome you to the January 2009 IFSP e-Newsletter. As always, the primary purpose of this e-newsletter is to keep IFSP members around the world up to date with the latest international sports physiotherapy (physical therapy) issues, research and news. The Board of IFSP wishes all members a great 2009. Kindest regards IFSP Board and friends, Zürich, May 2008 SOUTH AFRICA: THE PLACE TO BE IN 2009 & 2010 !In 2010 South Africa will host one of the world's major sports events: the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP.
What about 2009? In May 2009, the Western Cape Organising Committee will be hosting the South African Society of Physiotherapy International Congress, in association with the International Private Practitioners Association. This congress will be preceded by a Symposium run by IFSP on 30th April 2009. Mike Voight and Henning Langberg, both in the IFSP Board, will hold several presentations on sports physiotherapy related topics. International Keynote Speakers Pre-Congress courses will be presented by Keynote Speakers from 27th to 30th April 2009. ... And in June 2009, the FIFA CONFEDERATIONS CUP SOUTH AFRICA 2009 will take place in four South African cities! See www.fifa.com for more details. EXPLORE THE WEBSITE!IFSP and Sports Physiotherapy For All (SPA) websites have joined at www.sportsphysiotherapyforall.org. The objective of Sports Physiotherapy for All was to promote life long learning in vocational Sports Physiotherapy education, and to this end, an international set of core competencies and standards for Sports Physiotherapy practice have been established. The International Federation of Sports Physiotherapy (IFSP) is the founding partner of the SPA project. IFSP is a worldwide Federation which represents national Sports Physiotherapy organisations. It is a recognised subgroup of the World Confederation of Physiotherapy. Take advantage of being on the website to take a look around and view this informative & useful resource. The site including sports news, about IFSP, upcoming events and recent IFSP developments. The publications section, including journals and literature review are a great point of reference. |
