Dear Member The Swiss Sports Physiotherapy Association is pleased to welcome you to the 2nd IFSP newsletter OF 2009. As always, the primary purpose of this e-newsletter is to keep IFSP members around the world up to date with the latest international sports physiotherapy (physical therapy) issues, research and news. The Asociacion Espanola de Fisioterapeutas and IFSP are pleased to invite you to the XI Jornadas Nacionales y I Congreso International de Fisioterapia de la Actividad Fisica y del Deporte (11th National and 1st International Conference of Sport and Physical Activity Physiotherapy) at the
headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee in Madrid, Spain from the 22nd to the 24th of October 2009. José Antonio Martin Urrialde, vice-president of IFSP, is the co-ordinator of the sports physiotherapy session. Check out www.jornadasdeporteaef.com for more information.
IFSP SPECIAL MEMBERSLast year, two sports physiotherapists became Special Members of IFSP: Mrs Ivonne van Leest from HONDURAS, and Mr Ahmed Alsharairi from QATAR. COUNTRY PROFILE: South AfricaThe National Sports Group of the South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP) became a Member Organisation of IFSP in 2008, joining more than 20 other MOs to date. SASP National Sports Group was founded in 1991, and today has almost 400 members. Its headquarters are in Cape Town. For more information visit www.physiosa.co.za.
In 2009, South Africa will host the major sporting event the FIFA Confederation Cup, which is the warm-up tournament before the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Check out www.fifa.com for all related news.
